The Colby Escape Room is located in the heart of historic Whitehall, Michigan in an original Masonic Temple built in 1922. Step back in time in our escape rooms that were expertly designed to give you the most thrilling and authentic experience. Your team will race against the clock (60 minutes) to "escape" the room by solving engaging puzzles and challenges that promote creative thinking, teamwork, and communication.

Competitive Mode is where two teams are separated into the Lounge and Luggage cars. You will race against the clock and the group in the other room! The group to escape first will be the victor and survive The Last Train...and gains bragging rights over the other group. To learn more about how to book the competitive mode, please refer to question "How do I book The Last Train competitive mode?".

When booking either The Luggage or Lounge Car, at checkout choose the option "+Add another booking". This will allow you to add the other train car to your booking. Example: When booking the 1:30 PM Lounge Car, select "+Add another booking" at the checkout. Add the 1:45 PM Luggage car to your booking. Proceed with checkout as normal. Be sure to select the "Competitive" option during the checkout process for both rooms. This lets us know that you will be arriving as a single group, and both rooms will be played at the same time. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to the earlier timeslot (i.e. 1:30 PM Lounge Car).

Please give yourself some extra time by arriving about 15 minutes earlier than your start time. Games will begin exactly at your start time. We offer a five-minute grace period at the start of your experience, if some or all of your group has not arrived at your designated start time. We have free parking on the backside of the building for our customers. Please note: If you book The Last Train competitive mode, you need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the earliest timeslot. The short answer is no; that doesn’t sound safe or legal! You will be closed in a room, but you are free to leave the room at any time. Of course, leaving the room early disqualifies any record times.

Each game is 60 minutes, though we ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to your experience for preparation and 5 minutes after to debrief and take pictures to commemorate your victory (or defeat!)

Each room has a minimum of 2 players, as we do not allow single players. The maximum for "The Backstage Theater" and "The Final Masterpiece" is 8 players. The maximum for each room of "The Last Train" is 5 players, for a total of 10 players when booked competitively. Players 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All bookings will be private, with one group per room.

No, our rooms are designed to challenge multiple skill sets so teams who have diverse problem solving skills will be most successful. While the majority of our puzzles are geared towards adults, kids can definitely contribute to solving the mysteries by assisting adults.

All bookings are non-refundable, however, we understand that life happens. We are happy to reschedule your booking with at least 24 hours notice.
